Most of our classes cost $10.00 per hour. Please understand that the teachers have spent many years developing their craft to share it with you. Their time and expertise is valuable to us all!

We are now offering 15% off all supplies (with the exception of books) purchased for classes!!!

 

Class Policies:

Many of our classes fill up quickly. Register in person, by phone or email to ensure your spot in the class of your choice. A $10.00 deposit will hold your place.

Full payment entitles you to a 15% discount on all regularly priced fibers purchased for the class. Please remind us of your discount when you are purchasing fibers...During your class, you will be entitled to a 15% off all yarn.

Full payment is due two weeks prior to the beginning of the class. We consider your enrollment a commitment to take the class. We order supplies and make a commitment to our teachers based on your registration. Some of our teachers drive from surrounding areas to share their skills with you.

Class fees will be fully refundable up to one week prior to the beginning of a class. After that time they will be non-refundable and non-transferable. In the event that we at Purl in the Pines cancel a class, registrants will receive a full refund.

New Teen Knitting Club!

• This is a new club for those 13 years of age and older. Come meet new friends and enjoy a great hobby! Meets 1st and 3rd Wednesdays after school every month from 4 p.m.-5:30 p.m. Starting September 1st. Cost: $20/month.

August 2010

  • Toe-up Slipper Socks with Kristin. Students will learn a toe-up sock with a short row heel. These socks are speedy to knit and make a great gift! Wednesday mornings 8/25 and 9/1 from 10am - 1pm. Cost $60 plus materials.

  • Crochet Felted Purse with Susan Jeffers. Using self-striping 100% wool yarn, Susan will teach you how to create the look pictured below! Then, you too, can prance around town with this gorgeous felted purse! Saturday 8/28 from 1 - 4pm and 9/11 from 1-3pm. Cost $50 plus materials (4 balls Poems yarn, size "I" hook).

Crochet Square of the month continues with Susan Jeffers. Saturday 9/11 from 11am - 1pm. Cost: $20

Customize Your Own Sweater with Kathy Zimdars. Using Ann Budd's book Knitter's Handy Book of Sweater Patterns, Kathy will take you through the steps of how to make a sweater just the way you want it! Saturday 9/11 from 10 am - 12 noon. Cost: $20.

Beginning Boot Socks with new teacher Catherina Roger. Learn to make a perfect pair of boot socks with double-point needles and worsted-weight yarn. Thursday evenings 9/14, 9/21, and 9/28 from 5:30 - 7:30pm. Cost $60 plus materials.

 

Simple Intarsia Purse with Tasha. If you are comfortable with casting on and knit and purl stitches, you are ready to learn this simple and pretty color technique! Saturday 9/18 from 1-4 p.m.. Cost $30 plus materials. (you will need 35 yards each of 5 colors of yarn '5 sts/inch,' and size 6 needles)

Beginning Knit I with Tasha. Learn How to knit by making a dishcloth! You don't need to know anything about knitting to take this class! Thursdays 9/23 and 9/30 from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Cost $40 plus materials. (You will need 1 skein of cotton yarn, single pointed needles size 7, and the booklet, Knit Dishcloth Sampler, all available at Purl in the Pines)

Lady Eleanor Entrelac Stole with Gerry Futoran. This intermediate class introduces you to the wonderful world of entrelac. The combination of this stitch pattern with hand dyed or color changing yarn is both elegant and rustic! Saturday 9/25, and 10/9 from 1:30-5:30 p.m.. Cost $80 plus materials. (you will need 10.5 circular needle 32" or longer, about 1,200 yards of verigated worsted weight wool, and the book Scarf Syle. You will need to have intermediate knitting skills for this class)

Fair Isle Mitts with Tasha. If you are comfortable working in the round on double-pointed needles, and are curious about learing to change colors using the Fair Isle technique, you NEED to make these mitts! Saturday 10/2 from 1-4 p.m. Cost $30 plus materials. (You will need one set double point needles size 6, 100 yards each of 4 different colors of worsted weight yarn)

Intermediate Socks with Jill. Fun, fast and portable, sock knitting is the perfect marriage of form and function! Tuesday 10/5, 10/19, and 11/2 from 6-8 p.m. Cost $50 plus materials.

Magic Triangle Scarf with Gerry Futoran . This beginner scarf class, is perfect for those who already know how to knit and purl. Thursday 10/21 and 10/28 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Cost $40 plus materials. (You will need 400 yard DK, or 200-250 yards worsted weight yarn)

Beginning Knit II with Tasha. Learn How to make a Hat! This is a class for students that know how to knit and purl, or have taken Tasha's Beginning Knit I class! Thursdays 10/7 and 10/14 from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Cost $40 plus materials. (You will need superwash Merino wool, 16" bamboo circular needle, & the 'Multi Gauge Beanie Hat' sheet)

Crochet Cowl with Susan Jeffers. Cowls are a great "hands-free scarf. They won't fall off your shoulder or come unwrapped, they are also less bulky, a really beautiful accessory! Saturday 10/23 from 1 - 4pm. Cost $30 plus materials (400 yds of sock yarn, size "f" hook, tapestry needle, -DK weight yarn may be used with size "G" or "H" hooks-).

Beginning Knit I with Tasha. Learn How to knit by making a dishcloth! You don't need to know anything about knitting to take this class! Thursday 11/11 and 11/18 from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Cost $40 plus materials. (You will need 1 skein of worsted weight cotton yarn, single pointed needles size 7, and the booklet (Knit Dishcloth Sampler)

Lace Kid Merino Cowl with Tasha. This is a perfect first lace project. If you are ready to try something a bit more challenging, but nothing that will make your head spin, this is the class for you! Lace is so much fun and incredibly impressive! Saturday 11/13 from 1-4 p.m. Cost $30 plus materials. (You will need one skein lace weight yarn, 16" size 10.5 needle, and the book, 101 Designer One-Skein Wonders)

Design Your Own Lace Pattern with Kristin. Saturday 11/13 from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. Cost $30 plus materials.

Crochet Square of the month continues with Susan Jeffers. Saturday 11/13 from 11am - 1pm. Cost: $20

Crochet Van Ness Scarf with Susan Jeffers. This scarf has a unique construction that requires no beginning chain! It can be made light and lacy or wide and warm, the choice is yours. Saturday 11/20 from 1 - 4pm. Cost $30 plus materials (300-350 yds DK merino, size "G" hook).

Beginning Knit II with Tasha. Learn How to make a Hat! This is a class for students that know how to knit and purl, or have taken Tasha's Beginning Knit I class! Thursday 12/2 and 12/9 from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Cost $40 plus materials. (You will need superwash Merino wool, 16" bamboo circular needle, the 'Multi Gauge Beanie Hat' sheet)

Scallop-Edge Beaded Necklace with Tasha. This is a cute, fun and super-fast project. It would make a perfect gift and is a great introduction to knitting with beads! Saturday 12/4 from 1-4 p.m. Cost $30 plus materials. (You will need a smooth DK weight yarn, size 4 needles, 178 beads, and the book, 101 Designer One-Skein Wonders)

Crochet Square of the month (Two classes in one day!) with Susan Jeffers. It's time to put those squares together! These are two seperate classes, the square class meets at 10:30, then a 30 minute lunch break, and finally, you will start putting the afghan together after lunch! Even if you haven't completed all your squares, bring them and Susan can help during the assembly time. Saturday 12/11 from 10:30-12:30 pm and 12/11 from 1-4pm. Cost $20 for the square class, $20 for the assembly portion.

Finishing Class with Kristin. That sweater has been sitting in the closet waiting for you to finish it forever! Learn the tips & tricks to making that labor of love look smashing on you or the intended recipient~ It seems too hard, but really...it isn't. Kristin makes this process so much fun. She will bring blocking board, steamer, and her amazing talent~ you will bring your unfinished sweater! Saturday 12/18 from 10:30 am - 3:30pm. Cost $50
